Simple Sandals I

Sandals are the easiest Bibletime costume accessory you can find. Almost everyone owns at least 1 or two pairs. When using sandals for your JM try to stay way from modern fashions and too many colors. Leather and Leather-look styles with straps are perfect and easy to find, but for those who want to make their own, here is ONE of TWO simple and VERY affordable ideas I came up with when I needed to make a few for a children's Christmas pageant.

You will need:

a. Start with a pair of Flip-Flops.

b. Pull down and cut off the strap plugs.

c. Remove the straps.

a. Measure 1 inch down from front hole. Make small mark.

b. Measure 3/4 inch from right edge. Make a small mark.

c. Place tape or ruler across top part and again measure
3/4 inch from left edge. Make another small marking.

d. Now use a heated ice pick to make two holes through the
markings. You may also use your scissors to make small
incisions. Be careful not to go to deep with the scissors.

STEP 3 STEP 4
  a. b. c.   a. b. c. d.

a. Use a 60 inch or longer piece of lacing.

b. Fold in half and slip through top hole.

c. Pull through and adjust loop hole by inserting
your toe. Make sure it fits loosely. You may need
to make it bigger or smaller depending on foot
    sizes.

a. Now make a visible marking at he base of the loop.

b. Carefully pull out the loop and make a tight knot just
     below the marking.

c. Reinsert the loop and glue it to the hole

STEP 5 STEP 6
  a. b. c.   a. b. c. d.

a. Now loop each end through holes you made
    previously.

b&c. Pull ends up while pulling up firmly on the toe
loop. This will  ensure that knot underneath is
securely glued into bottom hole. Crisscross
         lacing on top side.

a&b. Insert lace into bottom right and left holes.

c. Crisscross lace underneath and insert into bottom holes
     again.

STEP 7   Simple Bibletime Sandals. Approx. cost=$1.50
  a. b. c.

a. Pull up bottom lace

b. Insert foot and adjust lacing to fit snuggly, but not too tight. You will need to do this every time you wear the sandal.

c. Crisscross lacing at the back of heel and tie a bow on the front.

NOTE** Use longer lacing for a higher crisscross tie on leg.
